Screen Prints & Samples A Day In The Print Room
Friday was our first day as a class to work in the print room. Now that are tracings ( which has to be in Black & White with the black bits showing on the samples) which were inspired by our visual sheets was transferred on to the our own screens by Kathryn , which have numbers on the sides so we can tell which screen is who's. To start the day after signing in to the room and taking the necessary precautions before hand tying my hair up and removing jewellery off and tying long hair up. After initial health and safety we got started we was shown the techniques we was going to be covering that day .
First sample we produced that day was the screen print on to A3 paper using printing inks or paste that are placed in several coloured almond sized dollops on the top line of the mesh screen. When that is done with a wooden squeegee i applied the squeegee into to paste then with applied pressure , in one fellow swoop drag the squeegee down the screen then back up twice.
Finished product the plain piece of A3. Has now got the coloured screen print, i did this blue ink and yellow key colours from my visual sheets.

Screen Print Tracing For Wall Hanging
This is my tracing of A3 size proportions for my screen print which will be transformed into a wall hanging , which will placed somewhere in Barnsley college.
The purpose of the design is that when you curl the design round into a circular shape that the different shaped sized click together like a jigsaw puzzle in one complete smooth circle.
Inspiration behind the design was taken from my two visual sheets that was inspired by the "Too Much Information" summer project. It includes musical notes , game pieces , signs , logos and national well known architecture.
when the design is transferred on the screen with the pigment wash over the material only the bits that are black will show though the screen.
i will be in the workshop on Friday all day to try complete my A3 sized screen print and will have all week to work on it before my 5th of October deadline.

So now that my blog is up and running im a happy to shares my experince's on the project that is currrent now and the many more skill building projects to come.
Our first project of our 2nd year is the continuation of the summer project set over the summer holidays "Too Much Information" , which consisted of one of the broadest idea spectrums of any project to date .
Information is all around us and your bound to find some with in a blink of a eye. Anything that regristered as infromation from bus/train ticket to a starbucks recipt was used and transformed into other images of information such as road signs or kept as a original pieces , this then furthered into photo's for the whole process to be complete an artistic full cirlce.
That is now coming to a close after many many vibrant , textual and diverse pages later that is form friday going to be transformed into a tracing for a screen print to be produced as a wall hanging to placed in Barnsley College .
